I have always thought in-line sixes, V-8s, and V-12s capable of really nice exhaust notes but there really isn't way I've ever found to make an I-4 sound anything but loud (like a loud tractor). Most V-6s and V-10s just don't seem to be capable of pleasant exhaust notes either. My story and I'm sticking to it.
