Hey guys, I'm not a current owner, but looking seriously at a 2022 Base R with the DSG. I currently own a Hyundai Kona N (which I love), but it's just a bit too juvenile for me. I want excellent performance and handling, but something a bit more stoic and 'grown up'.

What are the trouble areas I should be concerned with on the Golf R, specifically the 2022 model?

Thanks!

2019 Golf R manual - I like the 6 speed
What are you going to do id DSG breaks ?
No trouble area after 29000 miles .
One advice :from factory comes with summer tires and 19 inch wheel.
You will all seasons if life where it snows .
Also careful with the potholes - the tires are very low and will break
Good luck- you need to drive the car and you forget the Kona

Yes, I'll definitely be getting a set of snow tires. As for transmission choice, maybe I'm getting old, but I LOVE these DCT transmissions, and the DSG is faster to boot.

I hadn't even considered an Audi actually, just assumed they were a fair bit more expense than the VW's. I love Audis though. The rare time I spot an R8 I do the rubber neck exercise.

they are that much higher priced. its not uncommon to have dealerships to give you actual discounts too.

audi is pretty understated and not as popular like BMW or even mercs.

Man, you were so right about that. I drove it today, and couldn't get the smile off my face. An hour later, I was the proud owner of a black 2024 Golf R DSG.

I pick it up tomorrow, and the hour and a half drive home was actually a bit of a letdown. As good as my KN is, It was readily apparent just how superior the car is to the KN.

The KN is quick, but the Golf R is FAST, scary fast, like lose your license in a heartbeat fast. I don't think I'll sleep much tonight, feel like a kid on Christmas eve, lol.

WCG, congrats on your purchase. You might consider a Unitronic computer chip for and additional 75-80 bhp; true warp speed when releasing the clutch….

Thanks! I think I'll wait until the warranty is expired before I do any 'enhancements on ' the car. No clutch on my car though, as I wanted a faster car out of the box.
